One of the many advantages that has come as a result of our obtaining the Resource Center building three years ago is SPACE! We now have a dedicated room for the handling and storage of what are categorized as ‘flat artifacts.’ These include maps, posters, blueprints, extra-large photos, etc. Thanks to a number of generous donations and grants, we now have six map cabinets for proper filing and storage of the same. To top it all off, we now have a large table adjacent to the cabinets for easy viewing. (The former trek from museum back room, around the desk and bookcases to a table in the front of the museum was an obstacle course difficult to negotiate with a huge portfolio in hand.)

Our October program was an exhibit of a sampling of this fantastic assortment of documents. It was a joy to let our membership get a glimpse at what has been formerly just too difficult to access. The program also featured a brief overview of the collection by our archivist Ned Schimminger, followed by ample time to examine the selected documents on display.
