WELCOME TO THE VIRTUAL MUSEUM
The Virtual Museum Project is intended to bring a growing selection of artifacts from the Historical Society of the Tonawandas collections to an expanded audience via the www.tonawandashistory.org website. While many of the society’s prized artifacts will continue to be on display at the Museum and Benjamin Long Homestead, as well as in the ongoing exhibits at various locations around the Twin Cities community, anyone with a computer and Internet access can now view never-before-seen images from the collections that may not be suitable or too fragile for display in the museum.
Since the society has an ongoing program to photograph the contents of the collections at its new Resource Center facility, putting color photos on the website allows website visitors from all parts of the country to enjoy the society’s artifacts from the comfort of their own homes.
Each image is accompanied by a description and donor information - when available. New images will be uploaded to the Virtual Museum on a regular basis and subscribers to the website Homesteader’s Newsletter will be notified when new images are available for viewing.
We hope you enjoy this exciting new project. Please bookmark this page on your computer so you can enjoy each new group of artifacts as soon as it is posted.
