ANNUAL SUMMER SOIREE
MELODY FAIR REMEMBERED
Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM
Tonawanda’s Niawanda Park Pavilion
Join fellow Historical Society members for a casual evening of conversation and camaraderie at the Niawanda Park pavilion located in the City of Tonawanda just off Niagara Street. Enjoy the natural beauty of the river, great food and friendship, as we celebrate the onset of another magnificent summer season in the Tonawandas. In appreciation of our many faithful volunteers and loyal members, a complimentary picnic buffet will be served by Jim Fingerlow of Just Say Cheesecake. A cash bar will be available. New members are always welcome, so if you know someone who’d like to join, bring them along to enjoy our party.
This year’s theme is Melody Fair Remembered. Photographs of musical productions and performers, playbills and programs from the Society’s huge collection will be on display. To further the theme, this month’s ROTO features Melody Fair images from the museum’s extensive collection of opening season negatives.
We are delighted to welcome a special guest for the evening: Joe Romanowski of Indigo Productions, who provided lighting and sound production for Melody Fair from 1969 until its closing. Joe was a 2004 Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee and will share some of his backstage memories and stories.
We expect there will be lots of reminiscing about the “old days” when Melody Fair brought Broadway to North Tonawanda and Western New York, so plan to spend the evening and enjoy this special event.
