Lois Benzino grew up in the Gastown section of Tonawanda, graduated from Kibler High School in 1945, and went on to receive her nursing degree at the University of Michigan, and a BS and MEd at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her first book GRAVE TALES: A MOTHER GOOSE SPOOF was released in 2011. Her latest book, GASTOWN GIRL, a personal memoir that traces her life from its beginnings in Tonawanda to the present day - a journey of more than eight decades - was published in June of 2016 and is available in very limited quantities at the Historical Society gift shop.
